CUHK - CAS Partnership Steering Committee Holds Its 7th Annual Meeting
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) convened their 7th meeting of the Partnership Steering Committee on 7 November 2022. The meeting was co-chaired by Prof. Chan Wai Yee, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK, and Prof. Zhang Ya-Ping, Vice-President of CAS. Nearly 50 CUHK participants and CAS representatives from Beijing, Kunming, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen including members of CUHK-CAS joint laboratories participated in the meeting.
CUHK members joining the meeting included Prof. Chan Wai-Yee, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Director of Joint Research Laboratory on Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine; Prof. Henry Wong, Director of Shanghai-Hong Kong Joint Laboratory in Chemical Synthesis; Prof. Xu Jian-Bin, Director of Joint Laboratory for High Density Electronic Packaging Materials and Devices; Prof. Chen Shih-Chi, Director of Joint Laboratory for Precision Engineering; Prof. Zhang Li, Director of Joint Research Laboratory on Robotics and Intelligent Systems; Prof. Heng Pheng-Ann, Director of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Joint Laboratory of Human-Machine Intelligence-Synergy Systems; Prof. Qin Ling, Director of Joint Laboratory for Biomaterials; Prof. Zhao Hui, Associate Director of Joint Laboratory of Bio-resources and Molecular Research of Common Diseases; Prof. Feng Bo, Associate Director of Joint Research Laboratory on Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine; Prof. Zhu Jun-Yi, Director of Joint Laboratory for Photovoltaic and Solar Energy; and Prof. Chan Kai-Feng of Joint Research Laboratory on Robotics and Intelligent Systems.
The Committee received the progress reports of joint laboratories in the past three years. CUHK Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sham Mai Har, Prof. Fan Jian-Ping, Director of Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT), and participating members exchanged views and gave suggestions on further strengthening the collaboration among the joint laboratories. Prof. Chan Wai-Yee and Prof. Zhang Ya-Ping renewed the academic exchange agreement between CUHK and CAS at the meeting.
CUHK has been in close collaboration with CAS in academic exchange and joint research projects since the partnership establishment in 1986. Apart from the state key laboratories and joint laboratories, the two parties joined hands with Shenzhen Municipal Government to establish SIAT in February 2006. CUHK has been organizing the CAS Academicians Visit Programme cum Lecture Series annually since 2007. CUHK-CAS Partnership Steering Committee was established in 2014 to forge an effective and sustainable relationship.
