Visit of Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology
A delegation led by Mr. Yang Jun, Deputy Director of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology, visited The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 6 November. He met with Professor Dennis Lo, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK, along with senior university representatives, including Professor Isabella Poon, Provost; Professor Sham Mai-har, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research); and Professor Jiang Liwen, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (External Affairs). Representatives from CUHK (Shenzhen) joining the meeting comprised Professor Xu Yangsheng, President; Professor Cai Xiaoqiang, Associate Vice-President (Education and CUHK Affairs).
The meeting focused on strengthening Guangdong–Hong Kong research collaboration, covering the tripartite joint funding scheme, Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao joint laboratories, and the Initiative in building the Greater Bay Area International Innovation and Technology Hub. Professor Poon reviewed the achievements of the first round of the Guangdong-CUHK-CUHK(Shenzhen) joint funding scheme, highlighting the great potential of Guangdong–Hong Kong allied efforts. This visit strengthened collaboration between the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology and CUHK in research and innovation, showing the confidence of both sides in further deepening cross-border cooperation and driving science and technology development in the Greater Bay Area.

The Tsinghua University delegation visits the Multi-scale Medical Robotics Centre
Professor Dennis Lo, President and Vice-Chancellor of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), warmly welcomed the delegation led by Tsinghua University (Tsinghua) President Academician Li Luming. Professor Lo was joined by CUHK members, including Provost Professor Isabella Poon, Professor Jiang Liwen, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (External Affairs), and Deans and Professors of the Faculties of Engineering, Law, Medicine, and Social Science.
Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on the progress of collaborative projects in a range of areas and devised development plans. Several collaboration agreements were concluded at the meeting, which comprised the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between CUHK’s Faculty of Social Science and Tsinghua’s School of Public Policy and Management, the MOU between the School of Journalism and Communications of both universities, the Letter of Intent on collaboration in legal education, and the MOU between the CUHK Faculty of Engineering and Tsinghua’s School of Electronic Engineering.
Next, the delegates visited the University Library for the exhibition A Century of Wisdom in Action: The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Tsinghua University. Visits were paid to the Centre for Novostics and the Multi-scale Medical Robotics Centre, where faculty members introduced the latest research achievements. This visit not only fostered the longstanding friendship between CUHK and Tsinghua but also laid a solid foundation for deeper cooperation in research, education, and talent development.
Delegation from the Ministry of Education Examination Authority Visits CUHK
On 5 November, a delegation led by Mr. Gao Sheng, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Education Examination Authority, visited The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). The delegates met with Professor Irwin King, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) of CUHK, who was accompanied by representatives from the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid and the Office of Student Affairs. Discussions were held on topics concerning the cultivation of top innovative talent, the impact of artificial intelligence on education development, teaching methods, and curriculum design, and the academic performance, research engagement, and career development of Mainland students in the University. The visit deepened mutual understanding of both sides to bolster further exchanges.
Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Delegation Visits CUHK
A delegation from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), led by Party Leadership Member and Secretary-General Zhao Zhimin, visited The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 19 November. He met with Professor Jiang Liwen, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (External Affairs) of CUHK, together with other CUHK representatives, including Professor Anthony Fung, Dean of the Faculty of Social Science, and Professor Song Zheng, Head of the Department of Economics.
Both sides held discussions to enhance the current initiatives under the collaboration agreement, with focuses ranging from student interflow and research attachment programmes, funding support to study activities, to interdisciplinary collaboration across artificial intelligence and the humanities and social sciences, and research cooperation in economic research and policy evaluation. The visit further strengthened the partnership between CUHK and CASS, bolstering new directions for further collaboration plans in research, talent development, and policy studies.
Visit of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Academicians Delegation
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) welcomed a delegation from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on 3 December on campus. During the meeting, the academicians exchanged views with CUHK members on various topics relating to artificial intelligence, comprising the impact of AI on education and the future development of AI in Hong Kong’s higher education sector. The delegation included CAS academicians Wu Xiangping, Tian He, Li Jinsong, and Tang Zhiyong. Professor Irwin King, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) of CUHK, chaired the meeting, and he was joined by Professor Fan Xitao, Dean of the Faculty of Education; Professor Alan Cheung, Professor and Chair in the Department of Educational Administration and Policy; Professor Yin Hongbiao, Chairperson & Professor, Department of Curriculum and Instruction.
Following the meeting, the delegation visited the Multi-scale Medical Robotics Centre, where a special presentation was given on recent research achievements. The visit provided a valuable platform for academic exchange between CUHK and CAS, further strengthening collaboration and interflow in advancing AI research and its application in education.
Delegation of Nanjing University Visits CUHK
A delegation led by Mr. Suo Wenbin, Vice President of Nanjing University (NJU), visited The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 8 December. The delegates met with Professor Jiang Liwen, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (External Affairs) of CUHK. Representatives from CUHK’s Alumni Affairs Office, Office of Academic Links (Mainland and Regional), and Finance Office joined the meeting for an exchange. Both sides shared experiences and exchanged views regarding international collaboration, funding management, and alumni affairs. This visit enhanced the ties between Nanjing University and CUHK, laying a foundation for future cooperation in university administration and development.
