CUHK VC Visits Shenzhen Futian District
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Rocky S. Tuan led a delegation to visit the Futian District Government on 5 May 2023. He met with Mr. Zhou Jiang-Tao, Deputy Secretary of the District Committee and District Governor to discuss the development plan of CUHK at Futian.
During the meeting, Professor Tuan reviewed CUHK’s development history in Shenzhen and expressed his gratitude to Futian District Government for its staunch support to CUHK Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Research Institute (Futian). CUHK will continue to leverage its strengths in education, science, and talent training, bringing partnerships in the area to the next level. The two parties exchanged views on devising research cluster plans with the participation of CUHK and CUHK, Shenzhen.
CUHK PVC Chan Wai-Yee Visits Great Bay University
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Strategic Development) Professor Chan Wai-Yee led a delegation to visit the Great Bay University (GBU) on 20 July. He was accompanied by Professor Song Chunshan, Dean of Science and relevant CUHK members. The delegation joined a seminar meeting regarding the Joint Institute of Advanced Materials and Green Energy Research with Professor Li Xiaoming, Vice-President of the GBU, and senior members of related departments. Both parties reviewed the work progress and the challenges encountered in establishing the joint institute and reiterated the objectives. Professor Chan remarked that universities should take on the responsibility of promoting innovation and development in key areas and cutting-edge technologies. Both sides would be working together in building up the joint institute for innovative science and technology development, collaborative research, and nurturing future talents in Dongguan and the Greater Bay Area.
CUHK and GBU signed a collaboration agreement on 8 December 2022 to jointly establish the Institute of Advanced Materials and Green Energy Research with concerted efforts to boost regional and national development at the forefront and applied research and nurture talents for green technology innovation.
