The Faculty of Arts of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) visited the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of Zhejiang University (ZJU) on 12 May 2026. The delegation participated in the forum on “New Directions in the Humanities for the AI-Driven Digital Age.” During the visit, the two faculties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to mark a new chapter in collaboration.
Professor Max Tang Xiaobing, Dean of CUHK’s Faculty of Arts, and Professor Wang Yunlu, Dean of ZJU’s Faculty of Arts and Humanities, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective faculties. The MoU signing ceremony was witnessed by Professor Zhou Jianghong, Vice President of Zhejiang University (ZJU), and Professor Isabella Poon Wai-yin, Provost of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Under the MoU, the two faculties will deepen collaboration through student and faculty exchanges, joint research projects, publications and a range of academic activities. Two flagship initiatives have been identified for development: a short-term student exchange programme and a biennial Arts and Humanities Festival. Professor Tang noted that this is the first comprehensive agreement for the Faculty of Arts in recent years with a leading Mainland university covering both humanities teaching and research. He remarked that the student interflow programme and Arts and Humanities Festival would enrich students’ learning experiences, broaden their perspectives and foster greater cross-cultural understanding.
The partnership underscores CUHK’s commitment to expanding its academic networks, enhancing student mobility and advancing humanities education in the era of digital transformation and artificial intelligence.
CUHK Establishes the Research Base for Humanities Terminology
The T.T. Ng Chinese Language Research Centre at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) organised the Forum on Linguistic Terminology Research alongside the inauguration of the Research Base for Humanities Terminology on 15 May. The event brought together more than 60 participants, including chief editors of CSSCI-indexed linguistics journals, scholars, and students, to discuss terminology standardisation and academic development. The newly established research base is the first of its kind set up outside the Chinese Mainland.
Officiating guests included Professor Jiang Liwen, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (External Affairs) of CUHK, and representatives from the China National Committee for Terminology in Science and Technology. The research base will leverage combined strengths to advance terminology analysis, academic exchange, and practical applications, while enhancing the global influence of humanities terminology. The forum provides a valuable platform for collaboration between Hong Kong and the Mainland, fostering linguistic research and knowledge dissemination while opening new avenues for future partnerships.
