GBA Scholars Advance Earth and Planetary Science at CUHK
The Greater Bay Area Future Geosciences Symposium (GeoX‑GBA 2025) was held at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) from 6 to 7 December 2025, bringing together over 100 scholars and students from more than 10 institutions across the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and the Chinese Mainland. Under the theme “Interdisciplinary Integration: Exploring the Earth System and Planets,” the Symposium provided a dynamic platform for scientific exchange and collaboration in the GBA.
Professor Jiang Liwen, CUHK Pro‑Vice‑Chancellor, opened the event by highlighting the importance of strengthening geoscience partnerships in the region. Four distinguished scientists delivered plenary talks on environmental challenges, atmospheric science, geophysics, and planetary science, setting the stage for forward-looking discussions. The meeting continued with two parallel oral sessions featuring 26 presentations, along with a lively poster session that encouraged deeper academic interaction. Eight outstanding presentations received awards recognizing innovation and academic excellence among emerging scholars.
